Watson Assessment Test

The Watson-Glaser test is famous for being one of the most difficult tests to screen employees. Therefore, it would be extremely normal to feel nervous and confused during the test, especially at first. But as you gradually master the concepts and tricks, you can ace your actual tests with the employers and land the job of your dream. Remember: Practice makes perfect!

The given test contains 12 sample questions based on the Watson-Glaser pattern. To understand where you stand and how much more you need to work, there are answer keys and explanations at the end. However, it would be unwise to rely on only one test for your preparation.

Hence, solving a series of such tests is highly recommended to boost your thinking skills to the maximum.

NOTE: THIS IS JUST A SAMPLE TEST TO GIVE AN IDEA OF HOW THIS TEST WORKS.

  1. The following test paper is divided into five sections.
  2. Each section comes with separate instructions.
  3. Section 1 tests your inference skills, Section 2 tests your abilities to recognize assumptions, Section 3 tests your deduction powers, Section 4 tests your interpretation skills and Section 5 tests your assessment of various arguments.
  4. Each question is mandatory and only one option is correct.

SECTION 1: INFERENCE

Instructions

For the following question, you have a paragraph under the heading ‘Paragraph’. After the paragraph, follow a few conclusions that may or may not be drawn from the given paragraph. Pick the correct answer (a, b, c, d, or e) depending on how true or false the given conclusion is.

Question Paragraph:

According to The Tariff Act passed in 1883, a ten-per cent tax was imposed on all the vegetables imported into the country, but there were no such taxes imposed on fruits. If the tomato was declared to be a vegetable, the New York Customs Collector would have the advantage of increased tax paid to him. Therefore, he proclaimed the tomato to be a vegetable. This caused the dissatisfaction of importers and they sued the NY Customs Collector. However, Justice Horace Gray said in his verdict that although biologically, the tomato was a fruit, it was eaten as a major part of a meal the way squash and peas are eaten. Therefore, the law would consider tomatoes to be a vegetable henceforth.
