SUMMARY:National Doctors' Day
DESCRIPTION:National Doctors Day is marked on 1st July every year in India. It acknowledges the persistent efforts of doctors to serve the people and also recognises their commitment towards public health even in grave situations. \nThe Government of India started observing 1st July as “National Doctors Day” in 1991 in remembrance of the birth of “Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy”\, a legendary physician. \nDr. Bidhan Chandra Roy also served as the second chief minister of West Bengal and a renowned freedom fighter. He was bestowed with the country’s highest civilian award “Bharat Ratna” in 1961. \nThe recognition of the Doctors’ Day is an attempt to highlight the importance of the doctors in our lives and to pay them our regards by commemorating one of their most significant representatives. \nDid you know? \n\nDr Bidhan Chandra Roy was born on 1st July 1882 and died on the same date in 1962.\nDoctor’s Day is commemorated on different dates across the world. In the United States of America\, it is observed on 30th March\, in Cuba on 3rd December and on 23rd August in Iran.
